I See the Rhythm: 45 minute program

Wood, an artist raised in Indiana who now lives in Atlanta, explores her family's rural Southern heritage in this unusually lyrical meditation on African American history. I Lay My Stitches Down: 45 minute program .
Students will discover hidden symbols, and, meanings of select paintings. The Artist will teach on quilt patterns and hidden Underground Railroad meanings and discuss adjectives in a small activity. Book covered in presentation is I Lay My Stitches Down. A question and answers session will begin at the end of presentation. Memo: Teachers have students prepare their questions before presentation. Please email all questions prior to presentation. In addition, three students participation are needed for the group activity.

I See the Rhythm of Gospel: 20 to 30 minute program

I SEE THE RHYTHM OF GOSPEL captures the spirit of the Black Gospel Music through jubilant, emotional images; beginning with the first song of the bible, spirituals songs, father of gospel Thomas Dorsey and continuing on to civil rights era and the beginning of choirs /James Cleveland, and contemporary gospel and holy hip hop. I See the Rhythm of Gospel takes us on a gospel musical journey through time. The students are invited to see the rhythm, feel the rhythm and hear the rhythm of I See the rhythm of Gospel. The 16 visual interpretations from the book are exalting, expressive, reflective inspirational and spiritual poetry in motion. Books covered for presentation is I See the Rhythm of Gospel published by Zonderkidz. A bonus CD of 5 songs is included inside the book. A question and answer session will begin at the end of presentation.
